Access to Programs for Individuals with Disabilities
SRBC strives to ensure individuals with disabilities have meaningful access to all SRBC projects and programs. SRBC recognizes that individuals with disabilities may need accommodations to have equal participation in or benefit from SRBC programs, services, and activities. SRBC facilities and facilities utilized for public hearings and other public meetings will be accessible for individuals with disabilities.
The SRBC headquarters building, which is the site for many SRBC meetings and public hearings, is accessible to and usable by disabled persons, including persons with impaired hearing and vision. Access and other features include:
-
Parking designed specifically for disabled persons
-
Curb cuts and ramps
-
Elevators which include braille
-
Fully accessible offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, breakrooms, and public waiting areas
Individuals with disabilities are responsible for making requests regarding reasonable modifications or auxiliary aids or services to meet their particular needs. SRBC appreciates receiving requests for accommodations with at least 14 days advance notice, if possible. However, the failure to request a reasonable modification or auxiliary aid or service does not always result in our inability to provide them. SRBC will strive to provide accommodations appropriate to the needs of individuals with disabilities in order that they may fully participate in or benefit from SRBC’s services and activities in a nondiscriminatory, integrated setting.
SRBC will not provide a reasonable modification or auxiliary or service that would fundamentally alter the nature of the program, service, or activity, including those that pose an undue administrative burden. In determining reasonable modifications or appropriate auxiliary aids or services, SRBC considers the wishes of the individual.
SRBC will provide, at no cost:
-
Appropriate auxiliary aids and services to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
-
Aid to individuals with other disabilities to ensure effective communication and an equal opportunity to participate.
All services will be provided in a timely manner and all services will respect the individual’s privacy.
